An Open Letter to Congress

Please don't vote to place constraints on the internet.

The future of our country depends upon the free exchange of ideas without fear.

No one is forced to sign on to the internet,

so information placed there does NOT go to a captive audience.

True freedom comes from the freedom to think and express oneself.

Constraints on the internet undermine this freedom.

I have two children, ages 16 and 12.

I believe in the goodness of their character.

I am sure that the values I have given them,

do not only function in my presence,

but bring them to choose what to expose themselves to,

and what to avoid.

The internet does not raise my children, I do.

The internet is no more threat to them,

than the daily newspaper.

Please do not hobble the minds of my children.

Let them see the world for what it is,

so that they can make it better,

and not live with their heads in the sand.
