About This Picture...

I'm standing in front of a high alpine meadow and pool on the other side of
Donahue Pass on the way to Thousand Island Pass.  Thousand Island Lake is a popular
destination in the back country of Yosemite along the John Muir Trail.
Though it is a day or two into the wilderness from the nearest trail head,
you still can almost always find a surprising number of people hanging
out there to enjoy a meal break and take in the view.

This pool is part of a vast moraine system left by the
same glaciers that carved Yosemite valley.

Melanie is a prolific author, musician, composer,
teacher, theorist, and successful businesswoman.
