About This Picture...

Again, at the high plateau, just before the final assault on the summit
of Donahue Pass.  The peaks in the back rise to over twelve thousand feet,
but the pass is a little lower than that at just over eleven thousand feet. 
When you consider that they pressurize airplanes at ten thousand feet,
and that we are carrying packs weighing over thirty pounds each,
climbing a steep grade as the trail climbs toward the pass summit,
it is no surprise that our arms and legs swell up like the
Stay Puff Marshmallow Man in Ghostbusters.

I suppose if we were twenty years younger that probably wouldn't happen,
but when you are 53 and schlepping around the back country of Yosemite
at high altitude, you have to expect a few physical signs that
you aren't quite as indestructible as you used to be!
