The Zen of Transgenderism

About This Picture...

This is the upper alpine meadow, about two thirds of the way up from
Lyell Canyon to Donahue Pass.  This meadow is right at the timber line.
From here on out, we'll be walking in territory
that resembles the surface of the moon.

In the background, you can see Teresa on the left and another one of our
traveling companions between us.  Though we are three days into the
back country at this point, there are a lot of people who
converge at this point along the John Muir Trail.

You need reservations and a permit to hike the JMT, and they only allow
about fifteen people per day to start the trail head.  But, since there
are several trails that lead to the portion of the JMT that crosses Donahue,
in the hour we spent here having our lunch we encountered about half a
dozen other pilgrims on their way to or from the summit of the pass.
