About This Picture...
This shot was taken at the lower
alpine meadow on the way up from Lyell Canyon
to Donahue Pass. This is
about one third of of the way up the climb
to the summit of the pass. We
had just arrived when this picture was taken,
and immediately after we started
setting up camp. Even though this meadow
is about one thousand feet higher
than the canyon below, it was actually
warmer at night than the two previous
nights where it had fallen below freezing.
This lower meadow is one of the
most beautiful places in the back country
of Yosemite. I usually burn a
lot of digital film here, and always come back
with new and wonderful shots as
the lighting conditions are never the same twice.
