About This Picture...

This is a wider shot of our climb from the end of Lyell Canyon to the top of
Donahue Pass (a two-day segment of our hike this year, though we
did this part in just one day a couple years ago).  We're still below
the timber line at this point (about nine thousand or ninety five hundred feet),
but by the time we crest the summit of the pass, we'll be higher than the
mountain peaks visible in the background, and so far above the timber line
we'll have just about forgotten what trees look like!

Melanie is a prolific author, musician, composer,
teacher, theorist, and successful businesswoman.
